In Memory of Mr. Tom Tallman

Mr. Tom Tallman was an impressive harness racing trainer and driver who grew up in the industry. Mr. Tallman always displayed passion, determination, commitment, strength and endurance in all that he did, but especially in the world of harness racing. His racing career covered New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, Illinois and Florida. At the age of 21, Mr. Tallman encountered an early onset of Multiple Sclerosis. However, he continued to excel in harness racing doing what others would consider unachievable. His determination kept him in his career until he suffered a relapse at the age of 33, which ended his professional career. However, Mr. Tallman had being a horseman in his blood and no disease or other obstacle would keep him from doing what he loved. His entire life, outside of his family, was staying true to his dreams. Although unable to still drive or train, his perseverance was something everyone that knew him admired and respected. He continued to raise foals and help friends in the business even after the disease progressed. Despite being bed-ridden his last 10 years, he remained an influential patriarch of his family. Tom’s legacy lives on with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
