This Pacing for the Cure Scholarship honors the life and legacy of Jeff Altmeyer—a devoted family man, horseman, successful businessman, and generous community supporter. From a young age, Jeff had a passion for everything to do with horses. His dedication to them & the sports they competed in continued throughout his life. He actively participated in team roping for 30+ years with his son Joey while running his full-time business, Altmeyer’s Trailer Sales in Kittanning PA & Ohio.
As the owner of a respected trailer dealership, Jeff built strong relationships within the equestrian, agricultural & local communities, always striving to provide top-quality service and support. His generosity extended beyond business—he was deeply committed to giving back. He accomplished this through donating trailers, booth space, merchandise, sponsorships, monetary donations, his time and expertise. Jeff selflessly contributed to numerous fundraisers and benefits.
One of Jeff’s greatest joys that he shared with his extended family was harness racing. His cousins, Dan & Ruth Altmeyer, Mike & Heather Wilder and Terry Altmeyer introduced him and his family to this sport. Jeff & his family bought ownership in their horses through the years. Jeff and Terri met Jeff Gesek through the Altmeyer/Wilder Stables and supported Pacing for the Cure, a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness and funds for Multiple Sclerosis research. Altmeyer’s involvement went beyond financial contributions; he actively participated in events, promoted the cause, and dedicated his time to raising donations for Pacing for the Cure through the Ft. Armstrong Rodeo, an event he produced for 25 years. His unwavering commitment to helping others left a lasting impact on the community and those he worked with.
This scholarship is awarded in Jeff’s memory to individuals who exemplify his core values—hard work, perseverance, and a dedication to giving back. Through this award, his legacy of generosity and passion for the equestrian world will continue to inspire future generations.
