Dr. Kim K, Pennsylvania
Growing up in a devout Catholic family, I have often heard the phrase “angels on earth”. As you know angels on earth carry out God’s work by protecting, guiding, consoling, supporting others in this life. My sister, Dr. Kimberly K is truly an angel on earth.
As the oldest sister of three girls in my family, she was a born leader and role model from a very young age. She exemplifies beauty, intellect, kindness, patience, happiness, love, generosity, peace and wisdom which led her to be the person she is today. Last year, Kim won a prestigious award as “Best Family Doctor” in her region.
My family and I are all proud of Kim and her accomplishments throughout the years, but more so we are amazed at her perseverance in dealing with the disease of multiple sclerosis. Kim developed signs and symptoms almost twenty years ago after the birth of her daughter, Renee. As you know, pregnancy can exacerbate this disease. She became numb from her waist down to her legs. She received aggressive treatment with steroids and ms drugs with the help of family and wonderful doctors.
Throughout the years, Kim has been in remission which me and my family are so thankful. This past year she had an exacerbation of the disease and was treated appropriately by health care professionals. I know God never gives us more than we can handle and I admire my sister who despite her trials and tribulations with this disease continues to honor her vocation as a physician to heal others for the glory of God. Her life of service has also inspired her daughter to follow in her footsteps as a physician.
I have accompanied Kim to many of her doctor visits throughout the years and I am always in awe of the courage she displays in combating this disease. We are truly blessed as a family and we thank God every day for His healing hand in Kim’s life. I know through Him all things are possible and I continue to pray for the miracle of her healing from this disease but until then my family and our Lord are with her every step of the way and we continue to honor Him and thank Him for all His blessings. But most of all I know I am in the presence of an angel on earth which I call my sister.
